Ongoing through October 30th: Census Takers Still Need Help From the Apartment Industry

Community,
The 2020 Census has now been extended through October 30, 2020 and apartment managers are being asked to help complete the count.
Census field workers known as “Enumerators” will be visiting, or perhaps even calling, apartment communities to seek the population count of those residents in units who did not respond to the Census questionnaire or the follow-up reminder notices sent to them earlier this year.
The population count is the core information the Census needs, and when contacted by Census workers the apartment managers may be asked to disclose: if the unit that did not respond to the Census questionnaire last spring was occupied on April 1, 2020, and, if so, how many residents occupied the unit and what were the gender of the occupants. Depending on the situation, Census Enumerators may also visit those units said to be occupied but did not submit the questionnaire to try and obtain the additional information needed pertaining to race, ethnicity and relation of the occupants.
Census workers will wear masks and follow local public health guidelines when they visit your apartment community. All census takers complete a virtual COVID-19 training on social distancing and other health and safety protocols before beginning their work in at your property. If you need verification that person visiting your site a Census employee call the Dallas Regional Census Center at 972-510-1800
There is still time to encourage you residents who haven't completed the 2020 Census to be counted by responding to the Census online, or by phone by calling 844-330-2020 through October 30, 2020.
