Earlier this year, unprecedented winter storms caused major damage to most properties in Texas, downing the power grid after another severe winter storm had impacted the same region only a few days earlier, and hampering recovery efforts. The system is estimated to have caused at least $500 million (2021 USD) in damages. These storms brought forth a number of issues never experienced by the industry when all infrastructure and vendor services to an entire region were brought to a standstill.

TAA added a Mold Addendum to lease documents in 2001. NAA followed suit 2 years later. Over the past 20 years, mold, mildew, rapid response and proper education have continued to grow as hot topics in the industry. Overshadowing in some instances, education and training related to previous standing concerns and OSHA guidelines regarding asbestos and lead paint remediation.

This mold information seminar will cover areas such as:

Identifying causes and locations of possible mold growth
Knowing how and if one disaster can lead to another
Mitigation and Remediation
Tips to share with staff members and residents to help prevent future issues
Resource links – those to trust – and those to steer clear from
