Food Drive FUNdraisers
Each year, the Food Drive Crew organizes fun events for our AAA members, proceeds of which benefit the Food Drive. Many of these events also give us the opportunity for increased exposure in the community outside our AAA membership. Click below for upcoming food drive fundraiser event info and registration.
Who receives our help?
Collected funds go toward buying family food packs for needy families and individuals in Austin and food pantries in 10 surrounding counties. Food packs are hand-delivered in the Austin area by volunteers the Tuesday before Thanksgiving to:
What's in a food pack?
Each family food pack has all the items necessary for a family of five to cook and eat a traditional Thanksgiving dinner in their own home, according to their own family traditions.
Food packs contain enough food staples to feed a family of five for the next few days.
First food drive held in 1986 with $600 in total donations
We've raised more than $806,000 in 31 years.
Over 21,700 Austin residents have received food packs from the Doc & Gayle Young Food Drive since 1986. Food pantries in 10 counties surrounding Travis have received $15,000 in financial donations from our food drive.
